Natural disasters are very unpredictable phenomena. However, some places on Earth are subjected to the influence of the concrete element much more than others. Analysing the weather data and natural climate features, we will tell you what regions suffer mostly from water disasters, burns, earthquakes and hurricanes.

Water disasters – floods, tsunami

Water brings both life and death. Floods threaten almost all coastal areas. Therefore, Maldives is always in danger, because of floods. The risk increases every year because of climate change. This coastal country is ready to buy new territories to relocate its citizens. The Maldives is a tropical paradise that can be lost anytime.

However, the tsunami is not less dangerous. Japan is always in danger because most of its large cities are located on the fracture in the Earth’s crust. Exactly in these places, earthquakes happen most of all. And these earthquakes provoke tsunami. Therefore, in 2011one of the worst tsunami happened here that took lives of more than 15 thousand people.

Except for Japan, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, India and Thailand are also in danger of the tsunami.

Flame disasters – fires and volcanic eruptions

There are circa 20 supervolcanos in the world. The eruption of these volcanos will be more dangerous than asteroid’s fall. Therefore, if the volcano of Yellowstone awakes, then everything alive will die within a radius of 100 kilometres. In addition, Earth will experience a long volcanic winter.

Other dangerous volcanos are situated in Kamchatka Peninsula, Indonesia, New Zealand, the USA and Japan.

However, the flame is also a fire. Therefore, in 2017 a terrible forest fire happened in California and encompassed the most part of the state.

The largest and most horrible fire took place in 1871 in the states of Wisconsin, Michigan and Illinois at the same time. The Great Chicago and Michigan Fires damaged, in general, more than 2 ha of the city area and killed up to 1000 people.

Land disasters – earthquakes

Tectonic activity is the main reason for the most of natural disasters. China, Japan, Indonesia, Chile and Mexico are most of all subjected to the earthquakes. Thus, the deadly earthquake happened in 1556 in Shaanxi (China). It took more than 800 thousand lives. Actually, such natural phenomena take about 10 thousand lives every year.

Air disasters – hurricanes

North and South America are mostly damaged by the hurricanes and tornados. During the last decades, Hurricane Katrina was the most destructive and deadly. Katrina was also one of the costliest natural disasters and one of the five deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United States.

In 2017 the country suffered from Hurricane Harvey. It is tied with Hurricane Katrina as the costliest tropical cyclone on record, inflicting $125 billion in damage, primarily from catastrophic rainfall-triggered flooding in the Houston metropolitan area. It was the first major hurricane to make landfall in the United States since Wilma in 2005.
